This thread is for posting Papaji quotes only.
Two simple rules:
#1) you may not post comments #2) you may post other Papaji quotes
If someone wants to discuss these quotes, that can be done in a separate thread, "The Daily HWL Poonja (discussion)" thread.

Changing waking state dreams
Visitor: Why do my night dreams constantly change, but not this world dream of the waking state?
Papaji: They both change, the difference is that while in the dream you don't say that it is changing. Only when you wake up can you see that it changes from one dream to another. The waking state dream also changes. Today is different than tomorrow or yesterday. This state is real only because you call it real and have this conviction of its reality. But during a dream you don't call a dream a dream. Only when you wake up can you say that it was a dream. In the night dream you see rivers, mountains, people, and relations. In this dream you see the same thing so how can you call one real and the other unreal? You have the conviction it will be a dream. You don't look at the dreamer, who also is your own creation. The dreamer is different than the dream so now find out who is the dreamer. The dreamer and the dream objects are all the same. Now find out who dreamed, who is dreaming. Find the 'me' who has dreamed. Find this now and waking, dreaming and sleeping will disappear. What you call reality is not Reality.

Purification
Visitor: When I think of the notion of purification it seems absolutely ridiculous. I wonder if you could speak about the value of purification. Many teachers tell their students to do more purification so that their realization is more powerful
Papaji: First of all, to purify yourself there must be some dust inside the teacher's mind and he wants someone else to wipe it out. There is, in truth, no dust at all. It is a waste of time to purify what is not dusty. From where has the dust accumulated? And where will you move this dust to, where will you throw it? With which broomstick will you do it? If you look, there is no place for dust to alight. Better to dust out the concept of purification. You are that emptiness itself. Where can dust alight?

The right way to do inquiry
Visitor: When I do inquiry I get such bad headaches. Can you give me some advice?
Papaji: If you feel a headache it must be that you are fighting with this inquiry, fighting to know who you are. Then only there is stress. Your headache is a result of effort. The right way to inquire is to ask "Who am I?" and "Where does the inquiry come from?" Take this very lightly and not like you are about to cross over a mountain. Here you are not to go anywhere or to make any effort. Simply relax and look at what happens and then discriminate where the "I" is living. First clarify your mind and find out where the "I" is. Once this is ascertained follow the path to where it is. Find out what vehicle you need to use to go there, a car? A plane? You will find that you do not need to go anywhere to get to the "I." Instead all that you have to do is stop all the movement of the mind and you are Here. As you don't need a rickshaw in your house you don't need to go anywhere to find the "I." Inquiry removes tension, it doesn't give you tension.

Escape Plans
Papaji: Any practice, anything that involves time, cannot take you out of bondage. Anything done with the concept of time cannot lead you to freedom beyond time. You have to jump out of time. What is time except "I am the body"? Can you conceive of time without the concept "I am the body"? To think "I am so and so, and I want this or that" is arrogance.

How to recognize a true master
Visitor: When one is so asleep - full of doubts and fears and ruled by the mind - how to recognize a true master?
Papaji: A Master cannot be identified through his words or his actions, nothing he does or says proves or disproves his spiritual state or his qualifications to be a Master. If your mind automatically becomes quiet and peaceful in the proximity of someone else, then that may be taken to be an indication (not a proof) that this person is qualified to be a spiritual teacher. There are no other reliable signs.
